Interesting Portraits

Filed under: General — Mulyadi @ 2:50 pm

So I managed to get some interesting pictures of people while I was in both Boracay and Manilla.

This young boy got tired after a while and started throwing tantrums

The ring bearer is so cute.

The old lady sitting by the halo-halo vendor

Trio of frens walking by the beach

This friendly boy smilling, with all the mucus still on his face..

The street vendor

This old man must be really tired waiting for his wife to finish shopping

Lost in a world of his own

He has a really mischevious look on his face

Even a stack of coupons can keep this girl occupied

I really wonder when she last bathed

I’m back

The trip was awesome. Boracay has been breathtaking. White sandy beaches, clear water, good seafood abundant. Only hassle was to get there. Its not as quiet a place, as I had expected it to be. On the contrary, its very lively. Market place, pubs, bars, restaurants, souvenir shops, the works. What’s amazing is that the place is so clean too, and even with all the bustle of the small island, the beach is never crowded :)

Manila is still as busy as I remembered from my last visit in Feb 07. I finally managed to meet Mariz’s family. A real friendly lot, even if they have some difficulty speaking English which is rare. I’m glad that I was able to meet her family. I hope they like me too :)

One thing I notice in Philippine is that people are not that shy to pose for pics. Children would openly smile at you when they see you point your camera towards them. Adults would smile when they notice you. Even if they do not like to have their picture taken, they would politely tell you. This is the one thing lacking in Singapore. Grace and politeness. Singapore sure has a lot to learn.

How lucky can you get?

Filed under: General — Mulyadi @ 4:32 pm

In Dec last month, I took part in a photography competition. I submited my photo for the contest, and emailed a couple of friends to vote for my photo. The contest winners, 12 in all, was based on the number of votes received from the public. Those 12 winning photos will be made into a calender. Within a day, I got back email replies from 4 friends who said they have already voted for me :)

Yesterday, I saw the results of the contest. The irony was, I did not win the contest, but 2 person, who voted for my picture won a $100 Pan Pacific voucher each!! How lucky can you get? Only 12 people were picked for this lucky draw, and 2 of them happened to be my friend, from the same company and dept, whom I emailed to vote for me.. hehehhe :)

mariz and Sinta won a $100 voucher each :D

At least some of us won something. Better than to go back empty handed. As for my reward, I got a packet of Kitkats. Hahahhah :)

Not again…

Filed under: General — Mulyadi @ 11:27 pm

Bypassed yet another time. I’ve stopped counting how many times I’ve missed out on a promotion to another colleague. Am I not doing my job well? I’m really getting sick of this. I know times are bad but if there’s one thing I really take comfort in, its knowing I still have a job. Times like this, I should just suck it up and let it go. Better to have a job then none at all. At least the job pays really well, with or without that promotion.

On the bright side, I will be going to Manila next week with Mariz. My first time meeting her family. I wonder what I will talk about. I hope I don’t make a fool of myself. Have to remember that when someone ask me, “Kumusta ka?”, the reply should be “Ako mabuteh” and not “Ako maganda”. Bwahhaha…. :)
