So HP started laying off many staff from the IT dept worldwide early this year. Have always thought my job was secured but it sure don’t look like it now. My manager is here this week, all the way from US, and with him, he brings bad news. Out of 3 people in our team in Singapore, only 1 will be retained.

This news would have broken me, had I not already gotten an offer from another team way way long ago. Yup! I was asked if I wanted to join another team within HP. I told them I would decide first but I guess its now decided for me Pay offer is pretty gd, considering HP recession I get to have a job, and build up more of my technical skill sets.. what more can I ask

From support and maintenance, I will now be doing infrastructure, development work and release management. I will be doing some Business Intelligence too so there’s really a lot to learn. While the money is gd, I’m more excited at what prospects this new role will bring me. I see this opportunity as a gd one to propel my career.

One step closer I am now, to the magical 5k figure. I can just touch it now.. hehhh

So yest was valentine’s day. Everywhere I go, its common to see girls with bouquets of flowers. Lots of teenagers everywhere too. Reminds me of the times when I used to be one. Not knowing if u even have enough to pay for a nice dinner, or be able to afford really nice gifts. Times have change this time around Finance is no longer a constraint. What can I say… HP pays pretty generously

Om has been such a narcissist lately. Imagine compiling a slide show of himself for valentine, just to post on others’ social networking sites. I have to admit though that its pretty humorous. Anyway, that slide show acts to showcase what picturesteal can do. What can I say? It is pretty comprehensive and an easy site to use

This blog is fast becoming dead. Partly due to me being lazy to blog and also partly due to my life being so boring that I’ve nothing to blog about. Life is just ordinary. Go to work in the morning, vivo for lunch, home for dinner, with the occasional movies over the weekends. Boring some might say but I find comfort in such an ordinary life

Year 2007 has been a wonderful one. Work has been awesome, company was great. Everything has gone my way. It has also been a year where I traveled the most. San Francisco, Perth, Cebu, Bohol, Koh Samui… I wonder where this year will bring me to. Already, UK is in the plans

Celebrated Darwis’s birthday last night. Made me realised we’re all getting old. He’s the first one among us to turn 27. Eventually, it will be my turn. I wonder what all of us will be like 5 yrs from now. We used to hang out just the 5 of us. Now, most are bringing their gf, some even wife. Maybe by 5 yrs, some may start bringing kids?? Bwahahah scary

More and more people are being laid off at work. Its very demoralizing. HP is being very aggressive with cost cutting. Just a matter of time b4 it will be my turn. Fortunately though, another team has expressed interest in getting me into their team. Kind of an internal transfer. I guess if people saw the need to do that, looks like I won’t be leaving so early My career projection in that team has also already been planned. That team really has big big plans for me. More than what my current team can provide. It should be a challenge
