Missing server..

Filed under: General — Mulyadi @ 1:20 pm

So, we got a call that one of the application we support is offline. Upon investigating, we found that the server is unaccessible, which is what caused the application downtime. Being a windows box in US, someone from the Frontline Windows Support team was sent to check it out. Turns out that the server could not be found… as in the server was physically missing. Bwaahahahahaa…. hilarious. Especially the incident report email sent out to the affected groups. Snipet of it is as below…

Next update is when the server is found. Hahahahaaa….

Can’t play the drums?

Filed under: General — Mulyadi @ 9:08 am

How bout you just take a clip of yourself hitting each drum piece and then edit it all to make it look like you’re a professional drummer :D

Came across this clip on you tube and I can only imagine how much time and effort it would have taken him to create such a clip. It is highly creative though and I really take my hats off to him :)

War Room

Filed under: General — Mulyadi @ 9:13 am

So I’ve been identified as a key personal for the War Room for the WEP project. This is in preparation for the go live date of 27th Aug 2007 for the admin modules, and the 10th Sept 2007 for the learner modules of the new system :) A 24hr line will be open to the room to handle all escalation calls to make sure nothing goes wrong for this project. This is soooo gonna be a huge career boost for me, to be identified as a key personal to participate in this event. Downside to it? How bout a 12hr shift work till it goes live :(

WEP, or the Workforce Excellence Program, is HRIT’s project to streamline our HP’s workforce. With a budget of $12 million, out of which $480k goes to travel budget, it is HRIT’s biggest project ever for yr 06 and 07. What we will be implementing is the SABA application. Its a huge application which will replace 6-7 legacy ones, thus streamlining all the workflow. It encompasses the “Online E-learning management System” and the “Talent management system”, to name a couple. When this project is completed, it will be the world’s largest implementation of the SABA application. 16,000 over course materials spaning 1.5 terabyte of space, 1 million over users at 10% concurrency, 300 admin and content publishers :)

My responsibilities to this team is mainly to do with the infrastructure and architecture of the entire system. This means setting up the system from scratch, system stabilisation, load testing, systems configuration and setup, application setup, performance tuning, infrastructure recomendations and such.. In short, anything to do with the way the system works or how its setup :) As I’m the most junior of em all, I feel really flattered :) I got to learn so much.

Work is now taking up all my time but the end results, I’m sure would be worth it. Already, I have been given 2 more recognition award of a total of 300 bucks and this was just for last week’s work :D Lets hope this project is successful. Than I will take a nice holiday after its all done. Hehh..
