It came down really fast…

Filed under: General — Mulyadi @ 12:07 am

It was unexpected. Nobody was prepared for it. I really felt for those affected by it. I can only pray that I won’t be effected by it.. Sigh…

Last week friday, the Global Payroll team contigent workers were all asked to attend a meeting. It was than announced that out of the 30 contigent workers, 11 people will not be needed anymore. As contractors, they will not be given any form of compensation. A mth notice will be all they have. Unexpected since HP has been showing strong growth for the last 6 quarters. Also, all the contigent workers contracts are only expiring end Oct.

The meeting dismissed and those who were affected had an email waiting for them. All it mentioned was “due to cost saving measures by HP, your service is no longer needed”, bla bla bla… 11 of them in all. That’s pretty huge. I’m sorry this has to haapen to you guys. It has been fun working together. Business Objects, SQRs, Reports etc… you will be missed.

Work force reduction within HP has officially begun. Starting with the contigent workers. GPAY done. HRIT next. An ongoing process till end august, I hope i’m not affected by this. So much plans for the future.. I don’t want to see it all shatter… Bless me.. and good luck. With any luck, those I work with will continue to give very positive feedbacks bout the quality of my work and the significance of my contribution to the project.

Morale in the office is low.. wake me up when sept comes…

I’m in love… again… :)

With Aussie that is. I love this place. Am in Perth now and its lovely. The weather is great. Have yet to perspire since I got here. Back in Sg, I would perspire just walking to the bus stop from my home. That’s bad…

People here are friendly. Walk past any locals and they are most likely gonna greet you with a friendly hello or just strike up a random conversation with you. Smile at anyone of em and the smile would be reciprocated. Do that in Sg and people usually will think you’re up to something. I guess its just the asian mindset. People just mind their own business..

3 more nights and I’ll be back in Sg. Back to work. That sux…. Oh well… I’d best enjoy whats left of my holiday. Cheers mate…
