MUahahahaaha finally… my monitor and docking station has finally arrived. Its really huge. 19″ lcd. My work environment now is sooooo cool. Nice laptop docked in the docking station, which is connected to a huge 19″ lcd scree, and a keyboard and mouse
Seems to be attracting lots of stares and comments. Muahhahaa awesome.
No more squinting at the small laptop monitor. I can even see the text on my new monitar a couple of meeters away. It is thaaaat HUGE! Only cons is that my table is kinda full now but who cares. Wheee…
Now to make fun of marvin with his fake docking station. Should have seen the look on his face when my monitor arrive. Hahahaha priceless
Today marks the 2nd day of the fasting month. Its considered a holy month for all muslims around the world, where we are required to fast from dusk to dawn. No food or water. Really a gd test of discpline
This year is extra significant for me cos the last 2 years of the fasting month, I was all alone in Melbourne. It sure sux though, when you have to break fast alone.
Peeople around me were amazed at how I can go w/o food and water for bout 14 hrs. I really can’t explain it myself, except that eventually, you get use to it
Helps you save money too. Hahaa.. Anyway, I just wanna wish all muslims out there a happy ramadhan. Hari raya is coming soon. yay!!!
That means its time to go back to work the next day. Haiz… why cant we have a 3 day weekend. My weekend is gone before I can even enjoy it
Sat is usually spent resting at home which leaves me with only 1 day, Sunday to go out etc.. Only thing I did today was went to east coast to skate. Just nice too cos as soon as I finished skating, it started to rain. hahahaa
Been pretty busy this week. Started to play badminton with some of my colleagues on wednesday. Its really fun
Played with Edmund, Su Zen, Ai’er, Derick, Hong Chuan and Henry. Su zen was kind enuf to drive some of us to the courts, in Depot Rd. HP building as well. 2 bucks per hr court rental.. now that’s really cheap. Went to Holland for dinner after that with Su Zen and gang. She drove us again. Only realised then that all of them are from the Payroll team. No wonder they bond so well. Seems like I’m the odd one out.
Work has been pretty interesting too. On tuesday, the Business Objects production servers went down. Muahahaha it was sooooo chaotic that day. It started with a call reporting that the Global Payroll application was down. Minutes later another call reporting that the Expense Management app was down too. And before I knew it, a few more calls to report that multiple apps world wide was down… Darn! I recycled the Weblogics Console, load balancer, Business Objects processes, etc… Nothing works. By then, users from India and Australia were already calling me directly on my phone asking me for updates to the situation
Eventually had to call Hadley, my team lead from US. After a while of poking around the system, we found out the break was in the Windows terminal which they used as a load balancer. It was somehow rejecting all SSL connection requests. DAMN!!! Reconfigured the system to bypass all SSL connections and now it work. Next few days was spent trying to figure out what happened and what we found out was some bugger accidentally deleted all the SSL certs. Had to regenerate the keys and installed the cert again and only got everything to work again on Fri. Dumb ass.. if I found out the guy who deleted all my certs.. grrrrrrr…
Another Issue keeping me busy was the failure of the HR production database. Man… I have so many batch jobs depending on this db but somehow, it hanged and the DBAs had to bounce the db. They killed all the db sessions which caused 20 plus batch jobs to fail. Haiz.. more work for me trying to recover all these errors
Thank god Steven from US, was there to help me out
Hell of a busy week.. lets hope next week will be smother….
