Back from the Tioman trip
It was fun eventhough so many unfortunate incident happened. I guess I’m just glad that even when shit happens, I have gd frens to go through it together with me. Heh… This holiday has been sort of a jinxed but nothing can describe the feeling of waking up to the sound of the soothing waves. So much better compared to waking up to the sight of traffic and tall buildings
First unfortunate incident was that Omkar could not join us. These events only got more and more…
Woke up at a gravely early time of 4.45 am on friday morning. Real sleepy. Meeting up with the gang at 5.45 am at Lakeside MRT. I was late so I had to take a cab there. Reached at 5.50 and Nasir and Darwis were already there. Waited for Ashok and he was damn late. He finally came at bout 6.10 and we started rushing to get to Orchard by 6.30. Obviously we did could not make it so we stopped at tiong bahru to catch a cab. There was no cab in sight and it started raining heavily. Darwis and Nasir went to the cab stand while me and Ashok stood at the busstop. Suddennly this NS guy walked in front of us, opened his umbrella and walked out into the rain standing in front of us, also waiting for a cab. Darn… with that umbrella, he sure got a gd advantage…. He left soon after and immediately after he left, we got a cab.. phew…. what luck.. Picked Nasir and Darwis up at the cab stand and we finally made it to orchard where everyone in the bus was already waiting for us. I thought it would be a huge bus but turns out to be a mini bus only.. Crap….
Journey there was prety uneventful. Already, so many things have happened. reached there and was pleasantly surprised we managed to get a chalet right in front of the beach. Put down our things, got changed and decided to take a walk around. Had lunch and thats when Ashok decided to go kayaking. After 10 mins of kayaking, Ashok’s kayak overturned and he fell of his kayak and guee what? His specs fropped into the water and he panicked. He started to look for the specs but could not find it. We had to borrow a snorkle set from the kayak rental person to help find the specs. Spent bout 1 over hour to find it but in vain. Suddenly we realised that the paddle to his kayak is also missing. It must have sank or drifted somewhere else.. Arrrgghhhhh.. spent the next 2 hrs trying to find it but in vain too. End result? Had to pay 80 ringgit for it, Ashok is specless plus me and Nasir got cuts on our feet. Ouch…
Got back to the chalet and Ashok said he did not have any money left for the snorkling trip the next day and wanted to back out. After lots of persuasion, he agreed to split the cost of the paddle among the 4 of us. We then went to the snorkle shop and told them we wanted to change our package from the 65 bucks to the cheaper 45 bucks package.
The following day after breakfast, we went back to the snorkle shop all ready for the trip but was told that they did not have any more space for us on the cheaper package…. Shit…. After some talking with the man we informed the change to the previous night, he said we can squeeze into another boat. Thank god man.. If not, the entire trip would have been wasted. The snorkle trip was really fun. First time doing this and I’m really amazed at how beautiful the sea is
So many fishes, so beautiful corals
Awesome.. It was a gd experience. 1st spot we snorkled at was in the sea. The 2nd spot was at this marine park where there are tons of huge fishes. Its really scary how they all rushed at you when u try to feed them. I jumped in with a bread in my hand and they were all swarming around me like pirahnahs.. Scary shit.. Got back to the chalet at 3 and after lunch and some rest, we continued the search for the missing paddle.
We spend the next 1 hr just to go through the shallow waters. It was only knee deep so the paddle couldn’t have disappeared just like that. We stood in a line and walked from left to right. Swim actually…
There sure was lots of disgusting marine life in the water. Sea cucumber, slimy sea weed, some even slimier sea stuff, lots of clams… eeewww… To think I might have stepped on a couple of those the day before. Luckily that day, all of us wore slippers in
We were bout to give up when Darwis suggested we walked a bit further. We continued on and by mere conincident, there it was. The paddle right in the middle of our straight line. Darwis saw it first and shouted to everyone who started rushing over. YAY!!!!! hehehhhhh we got back our 80 bucks
Well done people
Went back and with that money we got, we paid for this BBQ buffet dinner. Sounds good but it really sucks. We felt cheated by it. The food was not topped up as often as we expected and mostly, there was no food for us. Some of the dishes were not even topped up and each one was given only 2 prawns.. Damn it.. For 33 bucks per pax, I expected better. Lousy dinner.. At least it was still better than paying for a paddle. Lol… Played some risk after dinner and I won
The rest gave up cos I was too powerful.. Haa!
Following morning, we got up for breakfast and then it was time to pack up and head for home. Got to the pier and the boat was late. Even when the boat finally came, it was full and we ended up having to wait till 12.15pm for the next one. It was drizzling by then and we were sitting in the open deck on the boat in the rain. The bus back home was a huge coach. Definately much better than the mini bus we cam in
Finally got home at 6.30pm. It has been a very memorable holiday where everything seems to go wrong.. Hahahaha… but I’m real glad I went for it. I’m sure despite everything wrong which took place, everyone enjoyed themselves. At least I did
Home sweet home…
