If Yan can cook, so can you. Yah right. Its not as easy as it seems. Thats what Omkar and I found out after a few hours. We decided to get together bout 2 weeks back to prepare our own lunch. Just imagine, 2 guys, who has never ever cooked before, in the kitchen trying to prepare lunch.
The result…. A not so good looking dish and a very messy kitchen. A picture speaks a thousand words so head on here to see the result of our cooking session.
Cooking Session
Checked for my visa status in the afternoon and it was still not yet confirmed but around 6, I checked it again online and it has been approved. Finally.. I will now be booking my plane tickets. Because of the time constraints, it looks like the earliest I can fly out of SG is on Friday.
Grandpa still not discharged today so I just stayed at home all afternoon fixing my computer. What should be an easy process of making an image of my computer hdd, inserting the new drive, copying back the data turned out to be a very long and complex procedure. Thx to HP…. Somehow, when I clone back my data into the new hdd, windows won’t start. Had to format the new drive clean, use the quick restore disk to get windows started, then clone back my data. Too many time consuming steps and it took a while before I finished everything. Now, eveything is new. If only I can do the same with my mind. I would like so much to forget all my unhapiness and only leave behind my sweet memories. Hopefully, when I’m in australia, I can start life anew.
Left home to go to Queensway shopping centre at bout 6.15. Reached there only at 7+. Omkar and Darwis were already there. Told them to go first without me as I had to get my computer up and running. Those who know me very well will understand why
. Shop for a while before going for dinner at Burger King. Went to Ikea to look at the furniture after that.
On the bus ride home, I was so sleepy that I sleep through most of the journey. Woke up when its almost near my home and got such a shock. The entire neighbourhood was in darkness. I thought it was a dream and went back to sleep
. Woke up a few minutes later and it was still black. That was when Omkar told me that there was a massive blackout. Luckily the moon was shinning brightly
. Walked back home and then it dawned on me that I had to climb up the sairs since the lifts are not working. 10 floors up. Reached home, swithced on my computer and went round searching for my camera to take a snapshot of my dark neighbourhood. As soon as I found the camera, the lights came on. The blackout was over. What a waste. Did not even manage to get any photos. Oh well…
HP just posted a notice saying that they are going to start to recall most of their business series notebooks due to a faulty ram chip that could cause data corruption if your computer hangs. My notebook falls under their affected series. Check out todays papers. Its on the frontpage of the home section of the Straits Times.
Now I know why my windows software got corrupted and won’t start 2 months back. %#&@*($
The recall will take place next month all the way to December. I’ll be in Australia then so I hope I can have it fixed there.
My Grandmother was discharged yesterday. And tomorrow, will be my grandfather’s turn. Glad that everything went well. Both of them are now recovering pretty fast. My grandfather was finally told the truth that my grandmother was warded all this time and he was brought up to my grandmothers ward to see her before she got discharged. Now he knows why all of us keep disappearing and giving him plenty of excuses to get away from him. Hahahah.. I was alone with him on Saturday and he actually asked me if I had broken up with Syerida. I was surprised… I told him yes but when asked why, I didn’t know what to say.. Sigh…
. He still remembered that Syerida was with me during our family chalet 2 yrs ago. He also remembered that Syerida visited him during Hari Raya last yr. Oh well… It just wasn’t meant to be.
Went for my final round of shopping with Omkar just now. Bought a few T-Shirts, jeans and also a new hard disk drive for my notebook. My current one, a 20Gb drive has already run out of space a long time ago so I got a new 40Gb drive. This will go into my laptop and the old one will be used as a removable disk drive. Bought the external casing as well you see…
Had a chat with him on the way home in the bus. He was telling me he did not wanna get married now cos it will be a burden. You have to worry for your family and spend money on them which will make it hardr for him to afford a nice sports car, or a nice condominiom etc… I remembered when I once felt like that but not any more now. I just want to get married, lead a simple life and just make sure my wife and kids can have anything they want. I don’t mind that I can’t get anything as long as they feel happy. I was looking forward to this. I even had my proposal speech roughly prepared, waiting for the right time to propse to Syerida, but I guess I’ll now have to put it aside for a while. A long long while….
I miss her so much… but since this is the path that she has chosen, I wish her happiness. I’ll start life anew in Australia but deep inside, I’ll always miss her…
Most of you would probably know by now that I will be going to Australia to study for my degree. The course will take 1.5 years. Went to visit my Ah Ma ( Chinese Grandma ) in the morning and tell her I’ll be leaving soon. She looks better now, and the stitch from her previous op for the blod clot has healed quite nicely. A huge part of my study cost is actually sponsered by her.
Then, it was off to Mustafa Centre today to get my luggage. Bought 2 actually. 1 big one which will be loaded up into the plane with all the other luggages and a smaller one for my laptop which will be hand carried. No way am I gonna let my laptop leave my sight..
.
Lunch was taken at Muthu’s Fish head Curry restaurant. The total cost came up to bout 60 but the food was very delicious. All the curry dishes. Yummy….
Headed to Sim Lim Square after that to get a pair of webcam. One for me and the other for my dad. This was initiallly my plan with Syerida. I will get one for her as well before I leave but I guess that won’t be necessary now….. Will be using it to do video conferencing with my family when I’m in australia. Cost me $71 per set. All this was paid with the money my grandparents ( Malay Grandparents ) gave. They gave me 2k in all
. Will also be using this money to get me a new hard disk drive upgrade for my laptop befpre I leave.
Now all I have left to do is wait for my Visa to be approved and I will buy my plane tickets.
